How Pregnancy and Delivery Can Affect your Child’s Behavior

The title of this blog is pretty ridiculous isn’t it? Well after you read this it you might
not think so! Pregnancy and delivery of your child have a much larger affect than
you actually might think. Yes, you understand that what you eat and how your
health is during pregnancy affects your developing baby and all that stuff. So how on
earth can it affect if your child may have a neurodevelopmental and behavioral
issue?

Within the first couple weeks of pregnancy a primitive brain and nervous system is
developed. This system is in charge of directing development over the next several
months. Depending on how your system as a mom is working can affect the
developing child’s system. If your system is stuck in a chronic state of stress and the
foods your eating are causing the body to be in a state of stress, guess what? That
developing baby’s nervous system is going to be in a state of stress as well.

As I’m sure you know, your body without a doubt, affects your developing child’s. In
a system that is stressed out we can only react so good to certain instances. As a
baby this can start to look like fussiness, colicky behavior, difficulty sleeping, and
chronic spit ups. Once the child starts to grow it can begin to transform into anxiety,
chronic anger, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental issues.

On top of all of this, during delivery a lot of strain gets put onto the upper neck area
of the child. This can cause what’s called vertebral subluxation, or a misalignment of
the top two bones in the neck, which negatively affects the function of the nervous
system. We check for this everyday at The Specific Chiropractic Centers – Lake
Country and make sure the nervous system is working correctly. Check out the
video below for more information on how your pregnancy and delivery can affect
your child’s behavior.
